A Look Into the Marrakesh Yves Saint Laurent Museum

The French Fashion Icon’s Marrakesh Yves Saint Laurent Museum

“Marrakesh taught me color.” – Yves Saint Laurent

The Marrakesh Yves Saint Laurent Museum is dedicated to the life and work of French fashion icon Yves Saint Laurent, curated by Saint Laurent’s former partner, and French culture maestro, the late Pierre Bergé. The museum, designed by Studio KO recently opened a short distance away from Jardin Majorelle, where the designer found inspiration and where his ashes were scattered.

Studio KO based the building’s design on the Yves Saint Laurent oeuvre and “…by the duality between curved and straight lines and between loose and precise approaches to cutting fabric.” The façade of the building includes intersecting bricks placed in aesthetic patterns, inspired by …” the weft and warp of fabric”. The museum’s interior is designed like the “lining of a couture jacket … velvety, smooth and radiant.”

Not just a retrospective of Yves Saint Laurent classics: the pea coat, the Mondrian dress, ‘le smoking’ and the safari jacket; the museum houses unique pieces rarely before presented in public and arranged around the themes of Masculine-Feminine, Black, Africa and Morocco, Imaginary Voyages, and Gardens and Art, offering an original interpretation of the couturier’s work.

The museum’s “scenographer”, Christophe Martin included “…immersive audiovisual elements – sketches, photographs, runway shows, films, voices and music – that, by offering a sort of dialogue with the garments, reveal the couturier’s creative process and invite us into his world.”

In addition to the rotating permanent Yves Saint Laurent collection, the museum offers temporary exhibition spaces, a research library and archives, an auditorium, bookstore, and terrace café. It will also warehouse and restore garments and accessories lent by the Fondation Pierre Bergé – Yves Saint Laurent in Paris, as well as non-exhibited pieces belonging to the Jardin Majorelle’s Berber Museum.

The hottest new designer on Mexico City’s catwalks is Kris Goyri.

He is a graduate from Casa de Francia’s Institute of Advanced Studies in Fashion. He began working in the fashion industry designing a ready-to-wear clothing line for women. It was there he learned about the business side of fashion and extended his intrinsic knowledge of textiles and textures.

In 2008 Goyri received the international award for New Mexican talent from Elle magazine. That same year he had his first fashion show where he captivated the leading international fashion editors’ attention and began to have his work published in: Elle, Bazaar, Vogue, Glamour, In Fashion, Glow, Caras, and NYLON among others.

He then expanded his design portfolio by completing a Master’s degree at Barcelona’s Istituto Europeo di Design where he specialized in footwear and accessories.

The up-and-coming young designer’s most recent timeless collections including his 2016 Resort collection and this year’s Autumn-Winter and Spring-Summer shows have been enthusiastically received.

“Elegant, fresh, natural and simply beautiful,” is how Goyri defines his couture. Tailored to accentuate a woman’s beauty, his collections are superbly constructed works of wearable art created with naturally exquisite materials such as silk, linen and cotton and a rich color palette.

Copa Agua Alta de Polo at Careyes, Jalisco

Careyes Celebrated the 19th Edition of La Copa Agua Alta de Polo

Nineteen years have passed since the first time Careyes celebrated the first Copa Agua Alta, originally a game between friends to celebrate the birthday number 55 of its creator, Alberto Ardissone. With the aim of offering a better quality of the equestrian sport in Mexico, the Copa Agua Alta has been held in this ultra-luxury destination on the Costa Alegre de Jalisco, making it the oldest and most traditional polo cup in the country.

Careyes has the infrastructure and the first level staff to carry out this event with impeccable quality, in addition to an ideology of natural preservation and animal care. For this reason, his two professional courts were the perfect set to play the 18 games of the cup in six days of game. More than 100 spectacular polo horses were transported from different parts of the country so that the six teams: Fortaleza, Switzerland, careyes.net, La Patrona, Agua Alta and Steta Mexico.

On Friday the 23rd, the Agua Alta Cup officially began with a cocktail and inaugural dinner at Casa Agua Alta, owned by the hosts Kari and Alberto Ardissone, where the teams were presented, They delivered the official shirts and the schedule of games.

On March 24, 25 and 27, the first, second and third day of matches took place, the latter culminating with a cocktail in Sol de Oriente, one of the spectacular Ocean Castles by Careyes.

On March 28, the fourth day of games was celebrated, which closed with a fun barbecue at the Polo Barns, where you can find the game horses, in addition to an auction of big horses and a party to celebrate those born under the sign Aries.

During Thursday 29, a fun paella was held at Playa Rosa, while on Friday 30, played the fifth day of matches and the semifinals, which featured a creative hat contest among the women attending. Finally, La Patrona hosted a cocktail in the Plaza de los Knights of the Sun.

For the March 31, the grand finale day of this great event, an exciting match was played between the Fortaleza team and the careyes.net team, which culminated in a final score of 5-8 goals, positioning Fortaleza as the winner of the 19th edition of the Copa Agua Alta.

The award ceremony was held in the polo fields by Giorgio Brignone and Alberto Ardissone, who decorated all the teams and personnel involved in this great event, caballerangos, réferis, among others. The teams of careyes.net and Switzerland obtained the second and third place respectively, while Sebastian Dawnay, part of the Switzerland team, he was considered the most valuable player of the tournament. The players were decorated with a trophy created by the Mexican jeweler Daniel Espinosa and gifts from the sponsors.

Finally, Blue Crocodile was the ideal place for the closing party of these exciting days, same that had masks as dress code and lived with great fun and conviviality between friends.

The 19th edition of the Agua Alta Cup was held in Careyes, thanks the support of its sponsors: Jalisco is Mexico, Costalegre, El Careyes Club & Residences, Riviera Nayarit, Polo Today, destinorentals.com, Tucané, Daniel Espinosa, Top Sports and Marín. Additionally, the event was sponsored by Tequila Reserva de la Familia, the result of more than 200 years of inheritance and tequila tradition, and Stella Artois, Belgian beer of excellence, for being the official drinks of the Agua Alto Cup 2018.

Visits to the emblematic places of Careyes, such as La Copa del Sol and the incomparable Samadhi Nest in Teopa Beach, yoga in spectacular properties like Casa Corazón, between other things, were some of the activities that the attendees could enjoy this fun equestrian event.

His latest market achievement: lithium-ion batteries made available to consumers and utilities. And up next? Musk plans to create a giant global high-speed internet provider with up to 4000 satellites that could potentially reach Mars. His dream: to establish a Mars colony with a population of 80,000 by 2040.
