Aurelien Legeay, Head Chef of Grand Velas Los Cabos’ Piaf Restaurant, has been named one of the Master Chefs of France by the prestigious Maîtres Cuisiniers de France.

Selected by their peers, who are all French nationals, they are regarded as the most highly skilled in techniques and execution of the French culinary arts. With exceptional training at Michelin star-caliber institutions, these maestros are remaking modern French cuisine in the Americas. Only ten chefs in Mexico have attained this esteemed title, including Velas Resorts’ Culinary Director, Michel Mustière, and now Chef Aurelien Legeay.

Legeay launched his career in France, before traveling throughout Mexico and the United States in cities including Miami, Chicago and Los Angeles to continue his culinary education and broaden his depth of knowledge. Legeay has gained experience at many prominent restaurants including La Taverne du Mont d’Arbois at the Domaine du Mont d’Arbois, Relais & Châteaux, Bistrot Bourgogne in Mexico City and Piaf at the Grand Velas Riviera Maya where he acted as Chef de Cuisine under Mustière.

The 73^rd Annual Edition of the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race

Renowned around the world, the Rolex Sydney Hobart is one the top three leading ocean races.

This 628-nautical mile offshore race organized by the cruising yacht club of Australia provides a tough test for skippers, tacticians and crews alike. A yachting classic, the race draws a well-seasoned international fleet ready to test itself against the challenging conditions.

The 73rd annual edition of this time-honored event was memorable for its record-setting pace culminating in a new record. In a masterful performance by Matt Allen and the crew of the 52-foot Ichi Ban, victory was theirs in the astonishingly quick pace of one day, 19 hours, beating the closest rival by 30 minutes on corrected time.

For Allen, this victory is the culmination of many things: “This has been a lifetime effort. I first saw the race in 1976 and have been down here almost every year since. It is incredibly satisfying to come up with the plan, to put it all together and for it to come off. It reminds me of my first experience of winning with Lou Abrahams in 1983; to do so now as skipper is an incredible feeling. It’s every sailor’s dream to win this race.”

Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler Formula E team’s Lucas di Grassi

After winning the world’s first fully-electric FIA Formula E race, the 2014 Beijing ePrix, Lucas di Grassi has appeared on the podium more times than any other driver.

With twenty appearances on the ePrix podium, this Brazilian driver from São Paulo has exploded into the Formula E racing scene.

He finished third in the first season, and took the Season Two title down to the wire, but ultimately just lost out. In Season Three he turned it around again to overcome a 10-point deficit to achieve his Championship victory in Montreal.

Having contended with archrival and former champion Sebastien Buemi since the inaugural Formula E race in Beijing 2014, an ecstatic di Grassi claimed the Championship title on the final day of the double-header.

“You have no idea,” di Grassi said. “We had so many sacrifices but everything counts. I’m so happy!”

The technical relationship with Schaeffler has been a driving force for Lucas di Grassi, which transported him to within mere points in the Season Two final and finally the Championship title in Season Three.

Besides di Grassi’s Championship win, his most memorable race is undoubtedly the 2017 Mexico City ePrix, where he came back to claim an improbable win in one of the most thrilling races in the all-electric series’ short history.

“The race at Mexico showed what Formula E is all about, on track and around the racing itself,” di Grassi told CNN‘s Supercharged show.

He has driven for the Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler team, which has been a regular front-runner in Formula E since winning the inaugural race back in Beijing 2014. Di Grassi was the first driver to commit to the series and played a key role in the development of the original spec car that was used in season one. Di Grassi and teammate Daniel Abt have been on board since the first season, with both drivers taking multiple podium finishes.

Di Grassi also took part in a spectacular street demo in Las Vegas. He also became the first man in history to drive a racing car on the Arctic Ice Cap, when he took a starring part in the incredible Project Ice adventure.

As well as racing in Formula E, di Grassi previously spent a season racing in F1 for Virgin, and was also a test driver for the Renault Formula One team.

This year’s show featured 268 premier galleries from 32 countries, who presented outstanding works, ranging from Modern masterpieces to contemporary painting, sculpture, performance, photography, works on paper and film – some of which were created specifically for the fair.

Over 82,000 were in attendance, including influential collectors, directors, curators, trustees and patrons of leading international museums and institutions.

This year, Art Basel announced details about its Film program in Miami Beach, will presented a premier program of film and video works that focus on the universal language of dance and movement. The screenings took place SoundScape Park on the 7,000 square-foot outdoor projection wall of the New World Center.

The 16th edition of Art Basel in Miami Beach concluded with strong sales across all levels of the market and robust attendance from international collectors and institutions. This year’s show also saw the debut of a new floor plan and show design, which was widely praised by exhibitors and collectors alike.

Thomas Troisgros

Following in the family tradition of award-winning Brazilian gastronomy with a French touch is Claude Troisgros’ son, Thomas Troisgros.

Thomas is the fourth generation of chefs in the Troisgros family, a revolutionary name in contemporary gastronomy. The Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018

The next Olympic Winter Games will be held from February 9 to 25, 2018 in PyeongChang, Gangwon Province, in the Republic of Korea.
PyeongChang was awarded the XXIII Olympic Winter Games by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) after receiving a majority vote after three consecutive bids at the 123rd IOC Session held in 2011.
The 2018 Olympics will be the second Olympic Games held in South Korea, after the 1988 Summer Olympics held in Seoul and will be South Korea’s first Winter Games. PyeongChang is the third Asian city selected to host the Winter Games after Sapporo, Japan (1972), and Nagano, Japan (1998).
PyeongChang will be the stage for the opening and closing ceremonies and most snow sports. Alpine speed events will take place in Jeongseon and all ice sports will be competed in the coastal city of Gangneung. The games will feature 102 events in 15 sports. Four new disciplines in existing sports will be introduced including: big air snowboarding, which will replace the parallel slalom; mixed doubles curling, mass start speed skating, and mixed team alpine skiing.
