Sofía Sisniega

With diverse experience across film, television and theater, and raised on diverse Mexican and American influences, Sofía Sisniega is one to watch.

Graduated from the three-year theater conservatory “Stella Adler Studio” in New York and inspired by her father, independent film director, writer and chess grand master, Marcel Sisniega, Sofia has worked on more than sixteen feature films, sixteen plays, ten television series and several short films.

Sofia, a native English and Spanish speaker, has both American and Mexican citizenships and was raised between the two countries. A burgeoning icon in both countries, she is most well-known for her roles in the TV series “Gossip Girl: Acapulco” and the Netflix Original series “Club de Cuervos.”

At age 16, she starred in her first movie, “Mujeres en el Acto”, followed by “Arresto Domiciliario”, both directed by independent director, Gabriel Retes. After graduating, she continued her work in Mexico with “Bacalar” directed by Patricia Arriaga and produced by Walt Disney Studios. She participated in “Get the Gringo” with Mel Gibson, “El Gringo” filmed in Bulgaria, starring Christian Slater, “Trading Water” with Carrie Ann Moss and Zoe Kravitz, “Sundown” with Teri Hatcher, among others.

Sofia recently finished shooting 2 movies in which she also stars: “Hermanos Marquez Castillo” a comedy set in the 1940s directed by Fer Rovzar/Mark Alazraki and “Compulsion” directed by Batan Silva, a psychological thriller where she plays an American Neuroscientist.

Sofia also has many credits in television works. Sofia portrayed the main role of “Serena” in the Spanish version of “Gossip Girl” produced by Warner Brothers International Television. Sofia also played the role of Paty Villa in Netflix’s first Original series in Spanish, “Club de Cuervos” Seasons 1, 2, 3.

Sofia just finished filming the first season of “Aqui en la Tierra” a FOX series produced by Gael Garcia for which he directed the pilot and plays a recurring role. In this ensemble of amazing actors she plays one of the main characters: Julia, a wealthy girl with drug abuse problems. The series is directed by top up-and-coming Mexican directors.

Sofia is also currently shooting “La casa de las flores,” the new Netflix Original series in Spanish created by Manolo Caro.

From the very start, theater has always been a part of Sofia’s life. Her theater background in New York and Mexico includes performances in plays by Shakespeare, Eugene O’Neill, Anton Chekhov, García Lorca, Strindberg, Tennessee Williams, Sophocles, Oscar Wilde, Harold Pinter and others. In March 2017, she finished a long run of the classical play in verse “Don Juan” by Zorrilla at the Helenico, one of the most important and respected theaters in Mexico. Inspired by Fellini’s movies, Sofia played the lead role of Doña Ines in this successful production.

In 2017, Sofia also played Viola in Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” (“Noche de Reyes”) at the famous Foro Shakespeare in Mexico City, which won awards for the best production in Mexico.

With a flourishing career across film, television and theater, Sofia Sisniega looks to bring expertise and diversity to the industry for years to come.

Unconventional. Savvy.

On the move and helping others on the move.

Kirsten Green is a venture capitalist with a flair for helping companies make it to the big leagues.

Green graduated from UCLA with a degree in business economics, though never went to business school. Her business acuity was gleaned in retail. She founded Forerunner Ventures in 2007. Her genius is in analyzing consumer behaviors and brand building. For Green it is all about “original thinking,” something she says is “paramount as an investor seeking outsized investment returns,” as reported in a CNN interview by Poppy Harlow and Haley Draining.

Her expertise has paid off. By 2017, according to CB Insights, Green became one of the top tier venture capital investors of the world. This is due in large part to two successful early stage investment payoffs. In 2016 Unilever bought one: the Dollar Shave Club for one billion dollars U.S. In the same year another of Forerunner Ventures’ investments, Amazon competitor Jet.com, was given over to Walmart for a tidy $3.3 billion.

“I’m still working to persuade the VC ecosystem that the evolution of the retail sector is ripe for more multi billion-dollar venture outcomes.” –Kirsten Green

My favorite television drama queen, whose name I shall not reveal, is convinced that charity events are organized by bored, guilty people. Is philanthropy a goal in its own sake or just a publicity stunt? Are fundraisers self-promoting vehicles to draw media attention? Do people contribute selflessly or do they enjoy being asked to contribute? What about volunteer work?

When done well, charitable actions should not only be about organizing cookie sales by Girl Scouts or orchestrating grandiose events. Here are some charities of my favorite stars which supersede fan admiration with their focus on giving and helping, without thinking about the stars first. They make a difference. You can too. Please don’t be antagonistic nor a disbeliever – just help.
Eva Longoria Bastón and Maluma joined forces with distinguished guests to create their sold out exclusive event of inimitable style: the Global Gift Gala, with Jesse and Joy headlining. The gala dinner raised funds and awareness for the following foundations dedicated to humanity: The Eva Longoria Foundation, El Arte de los Sueños, Duerme Tranquilo and the Global Gift Foundation USA.

Diego Luna, Gael García Bernal, Ambulante and Omaze joined forces to help the victims of the recent earthquakes in Mexico. Their crowdfunding platform raised over a million dollars with 15,000 backers in the first month and guarantees that Ambulante will distribute 100 per cent of the funds received directly to local organizations and social initiatives dedicated to helping those most affected by this catastrophe.

Juanpa Zurita, and actor Ben Stiller, among others are promoting Zurita’s GoFundMe campaign dubbed #LoveArmyMexico. This campaign for recovery efforts following the harrowing earthquake events has raised to date more than $1,400,000 U.S.

The equivalent of the Mexican version of the League of Heroes launched Fuerza México Trust which in conjunction with the Americas Society hosted a fundraiser at 680 Park Avenue, New York with Academy Award-winning film director and producer Alejandro González Iñárritu, CEO extraordinaire Alejandro Ramírez, and the organizing committee of friends of Mexico in support of the earthquake victims of Mexico.
Another worthy organization was recently recognized with a Heart in Hand Award for its fight against domestic violence and human trafficking. Actress Somy Ali’s organization No More Tears based in Miami, Florida has rescued over 3,000 victims of human trafficking and domestic violence. It is run entirely by volunteers and 100 per cent of all donations are used for victim assistance.

Keith Haring, Emblematic Artist of the 20th Century

Keith Haring’s Energetic & Emblematic Style

Haring’s now famous Crack is Wack mural, originally painted in 1986, has become a New York City landmark. Haring is the emblematic anti-elitist artist who believed that art should be accessible to all. His public career began in 1980, when he rendered fun, eye-catching political- philosophical art on the streets and subways of New York.

Keith Haring’s work is described by the Keith Haring Foundation as expressing “a universally recognized visual language of the twentieth century.” Throughout the 80s, Haring exhibited not only on the streets, but in over 100 solo and group exhibitions. His first solo museum show was at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam in 1986.

Haring’s simple messages were direct and artistically presented in a manner comprehensible by all. His street work became so popular; it was stolen within hours of completion. This prompted Haring to merchandize his art in his Pop Shop’s where he sold posters and other paraphernalia decorated with replicas of his work.

Energetic, ever-present and popular, he participated in collaborations with artists and performers of the time including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol, Timothy Leary, Madonna, Grace Jones, William Burroughs and Yoko Ono.

Though his life was cut short by his passing in early 1990 due to AIDS, Haring’s work lives on in his charity foundation, exhibitions, retrospectives and collections in major museums around the world.

El Mejor Polo en México

Surrounded by an incredible family atmosphere, attendees enjoyed the hospitality of the best brands, restaurants and the highest quality Polo in Mexico, with all the tradition that entails a high level cup. They received the Silver Cup recorded with their names from the creators and organizers of the Handicap Classic: Alexis Head, Alberto Cervantes and Antonio Madrazo.
The program also had its philanthropic side where, thanks to the auction of the works of artists such as Alejandro Alemán and Andrè Bodin, funds were once again raised to benefit the Iluminemos de Azul Foundation for Autism. The Colombian artist, Alejandro Aleman, designed a shirt especially for the foundation Iluminemos de Azul for Autism, while the Cup for the champions was created by the Mexican artist Delia González.
Within the framework of this program, the prize was presented for the first time in the name and memory of the recently deceased “Jesús Solórzano” creator and founder of the Polo Ameyalco club for the best polo player in the cup, as well as recognition of the trajectory of the Argentine international player of high Handicap Mr. Benjamín Araya.
