Explore the Ocean in the Neyk Submarine

With a launch expected to take place next year, the Neyk luxury submarine is a famous engineering collaboration between industry leaders Ocean Submarine in the Netherlands, Rolls Royce, MTU and Bosch. After eight years of research and development, the 63-foot, fully pressurized sub is capable of reaching speeds up to 15 knots and will offer an unprecedented degree of luxury and personalization for as many as 20 passengers.

The interior has the same diameter as a private aircraft, allowing for the same posh, lightweight elements. Features like air conditioning, disappearing flat screens, a bar with crystal drinkware, library and most other in-flight amenities will be available. The underwater craft can also be customized with furniture, ceiling panels, and design styles to the owner’s personal style and requirements.

Customization options include fitting landing gear so that the sub can come to rest on a beach, adding a dedicated diver lock-out chamber, and transforming the nose area into a 270? underwater observation room. Designed with comfort and luxury in mind, the Neyk submarine promises to take you on the finest ocean adventure imaginable.

Beyond the Realm of Architecture

There are buildings that house art. Grand, staunch, impenetrable safe houses of our cultural heritage. Then there is architecture, a fusion of necessity, a shelter from the elements, but also an art, that in and of itself inspires, and is a response to culture, time and space.

Conceived by the architecture firm OMA, led by Rem Koolhaas, the Fondazione Prada combined seven existing buildings with three new structures: the Podium, Cinema and Torre. Koolhaas is quick to point out that it is not a preservation site of the original 1916 distillery nor is it new architecture. Located in Largo Isarco in the south of Milan, it is a combination of spaces that serve the purpose of art display, preservation and inspiration.

The 205,000-square-foot area combines post-industrial and modern spaces, both intimate and expansive. The Deposito, which houses the Fondazione’s collection, is intriguingly arranged, so states Koolhaas, as “…a hybrid of strict storage and partial display, creating ‘chambers’ where work such as a fleet of artists’ cars can be unpacked or half opened to the public.”

The Cistern, a preexisting building made up of three adjacent vertical structures that were once cisterns for distillates, is divided into three rooms with three interior ‘pulpits’ connected to an exterior balcony. According to Koolhaas, “Its configuration suggests a precise industrial need that now reads as a quasi-religious environment.”

The Cinema has bi-fold doors and can be instantly connected to the courtyard. Inside, the raked seating can be converted into a flat floor, allowing the space to be used for staging outdoor events or as additional covered gallery space.

The Haunted House, a preexisting building with its exterior covered entirely in gold leaf offers a ‘domestic’ setting for specific works, and adjacent, the Podium forms the center of the museum compound, made up of a fully glazed, column-free podium on the ground floor, and clad in aluminum foam with a bubbled pattern, is another gallery space on top. Both galleries provide large, multi-purpose areas inviting a superlative showcase for temporary exhibitions and events.

Eric Scianimanico is a multi-skilled Chef with over thirty years of experience in the hospitality industry. He began his career at Novotel La Défense in Paris and for the following nine years moved to three different hotels in the French capital before moving as Chef de Partie at Gorges de Pennafort Vars a 1-star Michelin restaurant in the south of France. In 1998 Eric moved to México where he worked for Hotel Presidente, Esperanza, an Auberge Resort, and Las Ventanas al Paraíso, a Rosewood Resort. In 2013, Chef Eric was invited to join Executive Chef Sebastien Agnes at Market by Jean-Georges, a uniquely original dining concept for One&Only Palmilla where he worked as Executive Sous-Chef for three years. After the reopening in 2015 Chef Eric kept working at the newly opened SEARED restaurant. Chef Eric Scianimanico has worked closely with the team at SEARED where he demonstrated his vast culinary experience, knowledge and skills which lead to be promoted to Executive Chef at SEARED in May 2016. Chef Eric and his team in the kitchen have worked closely to bring the best to the table. Chef Eric also overlooks Suviche, Breeze and Private Dining.

VOCHOL® HUICHOL ART ON WHEELS

Vochol® is the first Huichol objeto de arte on wheels in the world. Unprecedented and never to be repeated in the history of popular art, Vochol spectacularly extols the cultural and artistic qualities of Mexico.

In 2010, the Museum of Popular Art (MAP) and the Association of Friends of the Museum of Popular Art (AAMAP), together with the state governments of Jalisco and Nayarit, embarked on the Vochol® project. This innovative project is a testimony to the artistic abilities of the indigenous group Huichol, instantly captivating viewers through the enigmatic beauty and original, striking design.

For more than seven months, eight Huichol artists devoted more than nine thousand hours of their time, transferring their inspiration to a magical, colorful design embedded on a Volkswagen car by way of canvas. The minute, detailed work entailed covering the body of the car with more than 90 kilograms of glass seed beads, as well as the use of diverse techniques and materials to cover the seats of the car, decorate the rims, the steering wheel and the dashboard. 2 million 277 thousand glass seed beads, and 16 kilograms of special resin, fabric, paint and yarn were used to complete the entire project.

The Museum of Popular Art aims to support and preserve Mexican traditions through the creation of popular art, helping men and women to keep their ancestral traditions alive and nurture their identities. MAP offers temporary and permanent exhibits, as well as extramural activities, seminars, conferences, courses and workshops.
