Jennifer Coolidge Golden Globes

“I just find it baffling, absolutely baffling, that this is happening. But guess what? I really like it.”

After a career spanning three decades, Jennifer Coolidge is finally getting her due.

The veteran character actress, 61, is everywhere, accolades are pouring in, and she even made Time magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in 2023.

It’s clearly a pinch-me moment for the star who has mostly flown under the radar for the bulk of her time in Hollywood, appearing in small but memorable roles in the Legally Blonde and American Pie franchises, and stand-out turns in a number of Christopher Guest films, including Best in Show and A Mighty Wind.

“I know what I am capable of. I read a character, and if I can say to myself,

‘I know this woman,’ then I take the role.”

But it was her casting in 2021’s The White Lotus that blew away audiences. Coolidge’s Tanya McQuoid-Hunt was pitch-perfect as a neurotic socialite earning her an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress and winning over the hearts of viewers and critics.

Coolidge’s turn in season two of The White Lotus, garnered her a Golden Globe, a Screen Actor’s Guild Award and a Critic’s Choice Award. She also appeared in Netflix’s The Watcher and alongside Jennifer Lopez in Shotgun Wedding.

With several film projects in the works, including a third season of White Lotus and another return to familiar ground in Legally Blonde 3, fans can be assured there will be more of Coolidge’s incredible comic timing coming their way.

And it’s no wonder that friend and actor Mia Farrow noted the much-deserved frenzy surrounding Coolidge (merchandise bearing her image ranges from tee-shirts to prayer candles) calling her a true “national treasure.”

Diane Keaton: A Class All Her Own

Diane Keaton: A Class All Her Own

Eclectic, authentic and perennially animated, Diane Keaton at 77 is a unique and much-loved performer. Quirky, self-effacing, and enormously talented, Keaton is in a class all her own.

“Memories are simply moments that refuse to be ordinary.

With a career spanning more than 50 years and a bevy of awards including an Oscar, two Golden Globes and a British Academy Film Award, the California native first garnered recognition on the stage in Woody Allen’s Play it Again, Sam in 1968 and is best known for her seminal role in 1977’s Annie Hall for which she won a Best Actress Academy Award.

Loosely based on Keaton’s own character, Premier magazine has named that performance as one of the 100 best of all time, her infectious laugh and trademark style charmed both audiences and critics.

Other noteworthy roles include appearances in The Godfather trilogy, Reds, Father of the Bride, The First Wives Club, Something’s Gotta Give, and The Book Club as well as its 2023 sequel.

Her passions go beyond film. Keaton’s a lover of interior design, an avid house flipper and photographer, yet she’s also got five new film projects in the works.

And she’s also become somewhat of a viral video sensation, recently posting a video of herself dancing in her backyard to a Miley Cyrus tune in her signature tophat and turtleneck, utterly joyous and uninhibited.

The kooky, one-of-a-kind actress has retained her edge, reminding all of us to keep on dancing with her.

The Countess

Wife, mother, Oscar-winning actress, and musician, at 60 Elizabeth McGovern has lived an interesting life, to say the least. But that’s no surprise given her lineage. McGovern’s grandfather, William Montgomery McGovern was an adventurer thought by some to be the inspiration for the Indiana Jones character in Raiders of the Lost Ark

And while the striking brunette, originally from Illinois, hasn’t been tramping through exotic jungles hunting down treasure, she’s been carving her own path through a notoriously fickle industry with a calm and competent hand for more than 40 years.

McGovern’s first film, made while she was still a student at Juilliard in 1980, was the Oscar-winning Ordinary People, and the next year she won her own Best Supporting Actress Oscar for Ragtime, followed by a slew of incredible performances alongside Nicolas Cage, Sean Penn, Robert DeNiro, Helen Mirren, Brad Pitt – the list goes on and on.

But it was her role as Cora Crawley, Countess of Graham in the much-beloved Downton Abbey television series and subsequent films that have brought her charms and acumen to a new generation, firmly establishing her place as a screen icon with more adventurous roles up her sleeve.

I’m someone who’s done the opposite of whatever the received wisdom is, to keep your career going into your 50s
