FUSION CAPE TOWN
CAPE TOWN
CBy Jeremy Thompson
ape Town is like no other city. From the dramatic backdrop of Table Mountain, it sweeps down to the ocean in a vibrant tumble of colors, cultures and cuisine. Beautiful and chic, with world-class
restaurants and hotels, great African art and a host of places to explore.
You can swim from golden beaches in the Atlantic or the Indian Oceans, or take a boat trip to Robben Island to visit the cell where Nelson Mandela was jailed. Try the cable car to the top of Table Mountain for spectacular views or drive to the end of Africa, the Cape of Good Hope. A favorite day for me is to walk amongst the unique Cape flora in Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and then wine and dine at the nearby Constantia wine-farms, the oldest in the New World. If you’re into wildlife, there’s whale-watching on offer and, down the coast at Simon’s Town, a breeding colony of penguins. Try Chapman’s Peak Drive for breath-taking sea views or, if you’re daring enough, paraglide from Lion’s Head peak down to the sea and feast your eyes on this magical city. I challenge you not to be seduced by the Cape’s many charms. For me, it’s drop dead gorgeous. One of the world’s great cities.
