A spot of tea anyone? Ocean Blue World´s Signature Tea Party in partnership with French tea masters Dammann Frères was over-the-top chic, cool and sophisticated. Fit for a royal indeed, the afternoon tea experience was set on the edge of the sea – literally – as guests enjoyed the awe-inspiring Sea of Cortez views from the stunning estate of Villa Love & Peace. As the first hints of a new Ocean Blue Event season are starting to rise from a place of pause, here´s an in-confidence sneak peek at the year´s first socially safe #ByInvitationOnly event.

It´s a tradition that dates back to the 1840s in Britain, and in their usual fashion, Ocean Blue World brought it into their own hosting a stylish and simply divine tea party. Banding together with Women´s History Month, the women who wow in Los Cabos were invited to two sittings of early and late afternoon tea. On the menu – white glove service from top to bottom on the iconic Caleta, Palmilla cliffside.

Dressed in elegant vintage attire with matching fascinators of all colors and kinds, guests were greeted by the tunes of a live musician and escorted by a lineup of suited waiters offering blue roses and a specially prepared Nuit d´ete iced tea. Entering the stunning compound of Villa Love & Peace guests passed the lush native landscaping, floating steps, flanking waterfalls and dramatic firepits. Down the marble staircase and inside the expansive living room – behold a parade of pageantry. Staged with an impressive collection of fine china sourced from around the world and orchestrated with dashes of colorful décor, the artistic and creative direction on tableware was by Sonia Falcone, founder and president of the AMA Foundation dedicated to saving the seas. Guests were ushered to their table of choice which included the themes of Arabian Nights, Alice in Wonderland, All Things Flowers, AMA and Ocean Blue featuring hand-painted tablecloths by Los Cabos artist Tanya Talamante. Sublime floral decorations by Lola del Campo complemented the table settings and surrounding living spaces bringing to life the vibrancy of the occasion.

Tea was served. Luxury French tea masters Dammann Frères presented an exclusive tea tasting experience taking guests on a private sensory journey. As waiters served the selected teas including Coquelicot and Rooibos Vainille in gorgeous ceramic teapots, heavenly aromas of hibiscus, caramel, green tea and passion fruit filled the air. It wouldn’t be an authentic afternoon tea without all the traditional spreads catered and served by Casianos. Elegant serving trays brimmed with teatime treats of freshly baked pastries and dainty finger sandwiches. Then, care for something sweet? Miniature puddings of chocolate-mousse tarts, salted-caramel choux pastries, and exquisite OBW tiered cakes undeniably stole the show. On to the drinks menu, Ocean Blue World launched their own signature Bubble Bar in partnership with Home Ossy Bar delivering refreshing cocktails and a unique mixology experience.

As the event rolled on into the evening, a myriad of luxury giveaways were presented from Dammann Frères, Cypres, Tanya Moss, Casianos, Craic Yacht, and of course Ocean Blue. Adding to the trendy flair, guests let their gaze wander to the stunning Cabo Chic AMA designs by Sonia Falcone – an exclusive collection of blouses, shorts, dresses, accessories and handbags all made with 100% natural materials. When it was time for a touch up, Ocean Blue World´s Beauty Bar made for a flirty find in the home´s oversized powder room. Before departure, guests were able to take their memories home with the perfect photo opportunity at the charming green forest-like arrangement.

75 Seconds to Win – Palio di Siena

For The Siena’s townsfolk, “Palio di Siena is history, tradition, and life itself.” Four days of festivities culminate in just seventy five thunderous seconds of racing, where a horse can win “scosso” – without its rider!

This public event is uniquely focused on residents rather than tourists. Ten of Siena’s 17 contrade, or districts, take turns to compete in a race as old as Tuscany itself. For visitors, securing a spot on a balcony overlooking the piazza is a priceless privilege.

The atmosphere amid the emotionally-charged crowd is exhilarating. In Quantum of Solace, the twenty-second movie in the James Bond series, an intense chase through dark passages is intercut with heart-thumping scenes from the horse race in the piazza outside. As well, Cosima Spender’s documentary, Palio, provides rare insight into the underworld of Italy’s most famous horse race and one of its most prominent cultural events.

Although a secular festival, the Palio is swathed in religious rituals and symbolism, from a blessing of the horses and riders at a traditional mass, to the Madonna represented on the silk Drappellone hand-painted by local artists every year.

The race circles the Piazza del Campo where jockeys who are hired to bring out the best in horses they have met only days before the race, ride bareback at breakneck speeds. The magnificent mounts that participate in the Palio are mixed breeds selected for their speed, strength, and temperament.

This year’s twice-annual Palio races had thrillingly close finishes. The Giraffa team, both horse and rider, extended their stride to win July’s race, and Selva’s mare, Remorex, took the honors “ scosso” reminiscent of her win in the 2018 Special Edition Palio.

Although sensory deprivation therapy sounds like medieval torture, studies of the therapy began in the 50s and gained popularity in the 70s. The therapy has been refined and reintroduced to the public recently as a sound way to relax, renew, and invigorate mind and body, with luxury spas adding sensory deprivation pods everywhere.

The therapy consists of being insulated from sensory stimulation by floating in a tank or pod filled with body temperature water and a high content of Epsom salt allowing anyone to float effortlessly.

Red Autismo: A World to Discover…

#MakeItHappen for Red Autismo

Red Autismo is a nonprofit organization based in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Mexico working to provide specialized care for children and teens with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). They offer evaluations and a comprehensive intervention to promote full development and inclusion in society.

In 2008 Red Autismo’s founders, Lemoña Aretos and Francis Doring, were faced with their own childrens’ autism diagnosis.  Recognizing the lack of relevant experts and services in the community, these two mothers sprung into action to develop a center that would not only improve the quality of life of their own children, but would serve the needs of other children and families in the region facing the same disorder. 

In 2010 Red Autismo began to work as a comprehensive therapy center offering individualized sessions and personalized programs. Five years later, they launched an education program called INEVI, which promotes the development of partcipants’ academic and personal independence skills to prepare them to enter the school system.  Additionally they began to offer an educational program for teens and young adults providing them with knowledge an skills that will help them succeed in daily life activities and eventually as they enter the work force.

Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters 2018

Rafael Nadal’s Historical Record at the 2018 Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters 

At the 2018 Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, tennis phenom Rafael Nadal continued to build upon his extraordinary legacy when he captured his 11th trophy, and broke a new world record with his 31st ATP World Tour Masters 1000 crown.

The Spanish superstar, who boasts a 396-35 record on clay courts, beat Kei Nishikori of Japan 6-3, 6-2 in a one-hour and 34-minute final, according to Tennis World. It was their third clash in a red dirt title match.

Welcoming the world’s best tennis players, the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters opened the ATP Masters 1000 clay-court season.


Overlooking the Mediterranean, this highly anticipated event at the Monte Carlo Country Club offers the winner a prestigious victory steeped in royal history and rich tradition.

The win advances Nadal’s match record to 11-1 on the 2018, beginning at No. 1 in ATP Rankings. Nadal is one trophy shy of McEnroe’s singles haul (77), with 76 career titles, including 54 on clay.

 His Serene Highness Albert II, Sovereign Prince of Monaco, and his wife, Her Serene Highness The Princess of Monaco, presented Nadal with the Monte-Carlo trophy in front of a full crowd on Court Rainier III. It was the fifth time he has won the Monte-Carlo title without dropping a set.
