Despite the circumstances, for Lily Collins, 31, 2020 was a banner year. Audiences fell in love with her performance in the series Emily in
Paris, and boyfriend Charlie McDowell, son of actor Malcolm McDowell, proposed to her with a rose-cut diamond on a road trip to New Mexico in September in a moment she describes as pure joy.
Collins is indeed living a charmed life, but there’s talent and drive to thank for her success, not the luck of her father, musician Phil Collins’ famous last name.
Born in England but raised in Los Angeles, Collins studied journalism and wrote for Seventeen magazine, Teen Vogue, and The Los Angeles Times while she was a teenager.
She also worked as a model, and her grace and Audrey Hepburn-esque beauty prompted Spanish Glamour to name her International Model of the Year in 2008.
Her career as an actress has included notable roles in 2012’s Mirror Mirror as Snow White, Marla Mabrey in Rules Don’t Apply, for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe, and Ted Bundy’s girlfriend in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.
Collins’ versatility and resilience have allowed her to play a vast array of characters with a deep emotional understanding of each role she embodies, and we can’t wait to see what 2021 will bring for this enchanting actress.
