O n the financial side, Monaco’s expertise in private
banking is now recognized worldwide and is a
non-negligible aspect of the country’s appeal
for investors, in addition to the transparency
encouraged by H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince. This expertise
is backed by a regulatory framework which reassures both
investors and fund managers. Despite consolidation in the
wealth management sector, Monaco remains an important
financial center. Today, 33 banks, three financial businesses and
55 independent asset managers are all dedicated to serving the
ever-growing needs of the rich and famous.

Monaco is even now looking into the future with the opening
of a fund to target private equity-style investments. In May,
the Monégasque government and its partners launched a
start-up incubator and accelerator to support innovative start-
up projects in Monaco, with “… the objective to develop and
promote successful companies, diversify activity by positioning
itself as a credible, renowned capital of innovation, and generate
indirect economic benefits.”

Monaco is not Monaco if we do not talk about its celebrities.
Famous for its glamorous Formula One Grand Prix and Historic
Grand Prix races, it is not surprising that several drivers such
as Jenson Button, Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton and former
drivers such as Alex Wurz, David Coulthard and Giancarlo
Fisichella reside in Monaco. From the world of rally driving,
Daniel Elena, the co-driver of eight-time world champion
Sébastien Loeb, is a Monégasque.

The ever-popular ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournament
attracts fans from everywhere due to its magnificent location,
the Monte-Carlo Country Club and its long tradition of
champions. Monaco is home to several tennis stars including
Novak Djokovic and Caroline Wozniacki. Monaco was also
home to the late 007 star Sir Roger Moore who played James
Bond in seven films over twelve years, including: Live and Let
Die, The Man with the Golden Gun, The Spy Who Loved Me and
For Your Eyes Only.

Finally, one incredible little-known-fact about staying in Monte
Carlo is that you can easily do something remarkable without
even realizing it. A breakfast in Monaco, a lunch in Italy and
a dinner in France - all within a 25 km radius. So when your
partner asks you where you would like to go, do not be surprised
if the answer is, “Take me to beautiful Monaco!”
