H ermann Tilke has the contract for the
remodelling, with Christian Epp leading
his Latin American team. The racetrack will
be ready to go by the last day of July, three
months prior to flag-time at the end of October.
The racetrack is in a state of, as Epp describes it “...maximum
destruction like when the night is darkest just before the dawn.”
The racing complex is being attacked at every angle. The track
is being readied for three layers of paving to go over the asphalt
already there. The pits are being built parallel to the main
building; the Paddock Club suites, the two-story control tower,
the main warehouse, the medical center and the heliport are all
being readied for action in the 21st century.
In addition, the stands are being built that will seat the 100,000
plus fans who have already bought their tickets for the 2015
Mexican Grand Prix. The work is being done 24/7 to pull it off
on time. The legacy of the Mexico’s F1 will soon be ready for
another fifty years of world-class racing.
