#See&BeSeen I was also very impressed during my latest ski holiday
T in Park City, Utah with the Vail Resorts ski program
hrough Your Eyes: The Travelling Adventures organized through the nonprofit organization, the
of a Blind Journalist has made me wonder and National Ability Center (NAC). The NAC does really
ponder the concept of sight and even more how amazing work with adaptive skiing and snowboarding activities
to highlight the many efforts of individuals and for people of different abilities. Ski instructors are specially-
trained in adaptive techniques and guide skiers who are blind
down the slopes. Their ultimate goal is to enable blind people
corporations who invest their strength, time, and resources to ski and board independently enjoying the experience with
making a difference for the blind and the vision-impaired.
friends and families. The NAC at Park City is a training venue
for adaptive athletes of various sports.

The National Ability Center’s website is: discovernac.org.

VEMOS CON EL CORAZÓN, IAP

I n April 2008 a group of friends got together to create
a rehabilitation center for sight-impaired individuals.
Vemos con el Corazón, under the leadership of
Esteban Abascal, La Moderna pasta entrepreneur,
promotes the intellectual, emotional, and creative growth of
low-income “visually handicapped” people. They also organize
sensorial experiences and exhibits like ¿Ya viste? Cierra los Ojos,
Abre tu Corazón which attracted over one thousand attendees.
Their hard work has changed and continues to change the lives
of many.
