WORLD WIDE TECHNOLOGY CHAMPIONSHIP IN MEXICO
In 2007, history was made when the World Wide Technology Championship debuted as the first official PGA TOUR event held outside the USA and Canada. This groundbreaking tournament set a new precedent for professional golf in Mexico and Latin America, paving the way for the sport’s growth across the region. Tournament Director Joe Mazzeo welcomed Ocean Blue to the hosting venue— the Tiger Woods-designed El Cardonal golf course at Diamante in Los Cabos — for an exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpse into the success of the WWT Championship.
For its first 16 years, the tournament was held in Riviera Maya before relocating to Mexico’s top luxury destination, Los Cabos, in 2023. Since its inception, the event has consistently attracted a stellar field of participants, featuring some of the biggest names in golf including Scottie Scheffler, Viktor Hovland, Justin Thomas, and Rickie Fowler. Delivering the full thrill and intensity of the PGA TOUR competition, every moment is filled with drama, from the opening round to the final putt, culminating in a memorable finish. Players battle for coveted FedExCup points and the opportunity to etch their names into the event’s rich history.
This November, the tournament’s 18th edition will showcase 120 professional golfers competing in four rounds of stroke play. Amateur golfers are invited to join the exclusive Pro-Ams for a unique golf experience alongside some of the world’s best golfers. Fans and spectators can enjoy the VIP hospitality areas, including “The Woods,” the tournament’s most elite suite, which boasts spectacular views of the 1st tee, 18th green, and the Pacific Ocean.
As Mexico’s pioneering PGA TOUR event, the WWT Championship continues to create unforgettable moments, solidifying its place as the leading international event on the PGA TOUR calendar.
“Los Cabos stands as Mexico’s premier golf destination, and El Cardonal perfectly embodies all the standards of the PGA TOUR delivering an intimate atmosphere and providing all spectators with an unparalleled up-close experience.”
