RELUCTANTLY FABULOUS

At 78, Eugene Levy has stumbled into the most improbable third act. The Companion of the Order of Canada, that silver-browed master of deadpan who perfected staying put across six seasons of Schitt’s Creek, now traverses continents for Apple TV+. The cosmic joke writes itself.

The Reluctant Traveler, three seasons deep, captures Levy looking gorgeously bewildered in Jodhpur’s spice-scented chaos. He witnesses Oaxaca’s candlelit Day of the Dead processions with touching reverence. Each destination finds him radiating the unmistakable energy of someone mentally cataloging reasons to stay home next time.

Then Windsor happened. Prince William — future king, surprisingly game — personally guided Levy through gilded corridors and private royal quarters. The sort of access that makes publicists weep. South Africa delivered its own theater: fourteen-foot crocodiles gliding beneath his vintage railway carriage at first light. Vancouver brought Michael Bublé and West Coast swagger. Through it all, Levy maintains that exquisite comic bewilderment, the timing that made him a national treasure.

What the series reveals: discomfort might be luxury’s final frontier, and Levy its most charming convert.
