THE GOAL OF TIGER WOODS DESIGN IS TO CREATE AN EXCLUSIVE SELECTION OF ENJOYABLE, UNIQUE GOLF COURSES WORLDWIDE
Eldrick ‘Tiger’ Woods, now 38 years old, has had an unprecedented career since becoming a professional golfer in the summer of 1996. He has won 104 tournaments, with 78 on the PGA TOUR, including the 1997, 2001, 2002 and 2005 Masters Tournaments. With his second Masters victory in 2001, Tiger became the first ever to hold all four professional championships at the same time.
He is now busy off course as well as on with his golf-course design company. Tiger Woods Design employs Tiger’s international experience, his limitless pursuit of excellence and his love of golf, to create amazing golf courses. His current project, El Cardonal Golf Course is at Diamante in the oceanside town of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Diamante houses a superb traditional golf course now and Tiger is thrilled to be able to add another very distinctive 18-hole championship golf course to the location.
Tiger explains: The site’s natural features and spectacular long-range views of the Pacific Ocean are being integrated into the design of El Cardonal Golf Course. Existing, irregular contours will be preserved in wide fairways and the bunkering and shaping will have a traditional look and feel. The variety of holes and strategic options will promote ‘shot making’ while still creating a very playable experience.
“I set up the golf strategy to make golfers think and make choices. Regardless of your handicap, there are going to be different ways to play every hole. Angles of approach are going to be very important and will dictate the type of shots you should consider. I love this kind of golf”
– Tiger Woods
Tiger’s golf courses incorporate the traditional California style that Tiger grew up playing on. He aims to make his courses well thought-out, with risk and reward opportunities that call for plenty of different shot options. His courses reflect what he loves about golf by being memorable, challenging, and fun to play. El Cardonal is expected to be completed in the fall of this year.
“Golf is a global game with limitless design possibilities. Whether it’s bringing a traditional American design to Europe, a links course to America, or Australian designs to China, Tiger Woods knows the possibilities are endless.”
