After redefining waterfront glamour in Buenos Aires and captivating Miami Beach’s fashionable set since 2015, hotelier Alan Faena has turned his attention to Manhattan. His latest canvas occupies West Chelsea’s One High Line tower, offering 120 rooms and suites with Hudson River views, and it’s every bit as theatrical as devotees might hope.

The lobby, which Faena’s team has christened “the Cathedral,” showcases Diego Gravinese’s monumental Ascension, A Sephirotic Journey — a 105-foot mural depicting a mythical woman pulling treasure from an ocean vortex beneath floating Kabbalistic symbols. A gilded spiral staircase glows at its center. The 160-foot corridor beyond holds Keith Haring’s Montreux Jazz Festival — the largest portable work the artist ever created, once a personal gift to Faena himself.
Elsewhere, Sebastian Errazuriz’s deconstructed disco ball anchors the hidden speakeasy El Secreto, while Chris Levine’s holographic Queen Elizabeth II watches over the emerald-toned wine cellar. Manhattan just got considerably more interesting.
