                                                                                     o wind down  after an invigorating  day, there  was only one
                                                                                     place for me - the huge outdoor hot tub, part of the plushest
                                                                                     gym and spa I have seen in years. Then it was time for some
                                                                            T well-earned food, and here Gleneagles excels again with nine
                                                                            bars and restaurants. A tasting menu at the two Michelin star Andrew
                                                                            Fairlie restaurant was as good a meal as I have had in the UK in a while,
                                                                            with the home-smoked Scottish lobster a highlight for all of us. The next
                                                                            evening was just as good at the classic Strathearn with its touch of culinary
                                                                            theater. A traditional trolley service allows the immaculate wait staff to
                                                                            carve whisky-cured Scottish salmon and flambé steak Strathearn at your
                                                                            table - pure class. Gleneagles really distills the very best of Scotland in 850
                                                                            glorious acres of Perthshire. It is a true gem in a glen.
