erwig caught the world’s attention with the
film Lady Bird which she wrote and directed.
Included in TIME’s top 10 films of 2017, it
G won two Golden Globes, as well as received
multiple Oscar nominations.
The young author, actress and director from Sacramento
studied English and philosophy at Barnard College, in New
York. As an actress she has eased her way into audiences’ hearts
with performances in over 25 films. Her skill on film has been
praised for its seemingly relaxed, just-your-average-Jill style,
fortified by an intelligent sense of comic timing.
Golden Globe-nominated Frances Ha, foreshadows the simple
eloquence of Gerwig’s unique acting and directing style.
Some of her other notable films include Mistress America, and
mumblecore films, such as Hannah Takes the Stairs, and Nights
and Weekends, which she co-directed with film and romantic
partner, Noah Baumbach.
The world has great expectations for this young,
multiple-talented actor-director-writer and her subtle genius.
They are hoping for an equally compelling adaptation of the
classic novel, Little Women, with its star-studded cast, as they
experienced with Lady Bird.
