sabelle Bscher brings her own style as curator to the
Galerie Gmurzynska. She is the third in a generation of
women who have been its curators. She is “…enjoying,”
Ias she puts it, “the art world’s progress expanding and
becoming more and more global, as well as the influence online
as a platform and disrupter.”
With longstanding locations in Zurich, Zug, and Saint Moritz,
one of Bscher’s latest projects is the Galerie Gmurzynska on
Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The gallery debuted with Cuban
artist Wifredo Lam’s exhibition Le nouveau Nouveau Monde.
Many celebrities including Susan Sarandon, Chris Noth, and
Joel Coen were in attendance.
Bscher has a Master’s Degree from Sotheby’s. She also grew up
among the finest art and artists of the world. Her playmates
included Joan Punyet Miró, and Diana Widmaier Picasso,
whose Menē jewelry she wears. Blue chip art is Bscher’s way
of living, Betty Boop memorabilia collection notwithstanding.
