MEXICO SHINES
WITH ITS
STAR-STUDDED EVENTS
M exico’s massive event lineup this year is impressive. From the
highest class of auto racing and two PGA tournaments to
Cirque Du Soleil, NFL and NBA- Mexico is a mecca of art,
culture, sport and entertraiment.
The passion of Formula One in Mexico’s capital city
In late October of this year, Formula One will once again electrify Mexico
City. This high-octane metropolis with a storied past and a promising future
is a shiny gem that has come into its own. No doubt the enthusiastic crowds
and an unbeatable setting helped make the first and second Formula One races
a unanimous success. In fact, three-time world champion Niki Lauda told
reporters after the 2015 Mexican Grand Prix, “It was the best I’ve ever seen in
my whole life.”
An equally impressive fact is that only the world’s top 15 largest economies have
been invited to host this prestigious event. Hosting a Formula One race puts
Mexico on the same playing field as trading partners like the United States and
Britain. Two people are credited with reviving the Mexico Grand Prix: Tavo
Hellmund, former racing driver and his counterpart in Mexico, British business
magnate Bernie Ecclestone. Hellmund believes this year’s event will blow the
doors off previous attendance records. The race will take place at the Autódromo
Hermanos Rodriguez, named after Mexico’s famous racing brothers and Formula
1 vanguards, Ricardo and Pedro Rodriguez.
Earlier this year, Mexico City also hosted the NBA games, a PGA Golf Tournament
in Mexico City, Fashion Week and most recently the Luxury Lab and the OHL
PGA Classic at Mayakoba, with Formula One and the Polo Handicap on the
horizon.
