Her
S carlett. I just love that name. It’s both delicate and
simultaneously powerfully unique, just like the
lady on our latest cover.
What I’ve found in “Her” is a person who is comfortable
in her own skin and perhaps what some might see as
uncharacteristically down to earth. Without once seeing
Johansson on screen, the sheer emotion expressed through
only her voice absolutely captivated audiences around the
world in the unusual love story, Her.
People in general interest me and I enjoy finding common
ground in others. Is it because she has a sister named Vanessa?
Is it because one side of the family is Danish? Of course,
I’m reaching, but I have, in fact, followed Johansson’s career
for quite some time. She started as a child actor and it’s her
mother who then helped launch her career by taking her
to audition after audition. It didn’t come easy. She studied
hard and made her courageous move to appear in the off-
Broadway production Sophistry with Ethan Hawke. Her
career was not an immediate slam-dunk. Commercial and
film auditions one after the other didn’t seem to pan out.
Others might not have persevered, but Johansson and her
mother believed in her talent and carried on.
After landing a few minor film roles, things started to move
when she played the daughter of Sean Connery and Kate
Capshaw in If Lucy Fell. However, it was a lesser-known
