T his elegant and powerful beauty,
Alondra de la Parra, holds the
distinction of being the first
Mexican woman to conduct an
orchestra in New York City. Heralded by Plácido
Domingo this ‘extraordinary conductor’ is also
an official Cultural Ambassador for Mexico.
Born in New York City, de la Parra moved to
Mexico with her parents at age two. She began
playing the piano at age seven and the cello
at 13; it was then she decided to become a
conductor. At age 19, she moved to New York
City where she studied under Jeffrey Cohen and
her mentor, Kenneth Kiesler, at the Manhattan
School of Music. At age 23, she founded the
Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas.

De la Parra is a rising star in high demand
as guest conductor. She has been featured in
The New York Times and frequently graces
magazine covers. She was named one of six
