the sleepy backwater of
Jukkasjarvi, into a major tourist destination
which attracts 40,000 visitors a year.
Icehotel ranks as the number one winter
destination in Swedish Lapland and its success
has spawned a number of similar ventures in
both Norwegian and Finnish Lapland.
There’s a lot to be said for a visit to the original
Icehotel, The sight of this massive structure
of snow and ice is certainly impressive.
Accommodation includes rooms with a bed
made out of compacted snow and ice, topped
with a reindeer skin.
Visitors who make it that far north are treated
to the full spread of winter activities like dog
sled rides, snowmobiling, and the Northern
Lights.
